FAIRBORN — The Ohio State University Alumni Club of Greene County will have its annual spring scholarship awards celebration 6-9 p.m. Thursday, May 19 at the Rona Church Social Hall, 1082 Rona Parkway. A sub supper will be served at 6:30 p.m.

Highlight of the evening will be honoring outstanding high school seniors of Greene County with OSU scholarship awards. The awards are made possible through fundraising activities and contributions from local OSU club members. During the evening a raffle and silent auction will be conducted with featured Buckeye items.

Guest speaker for the evening will be Paul Keels who has been the “Voice of the Buckeyes” on The Ohio State Buckeyes Radio Sports Network since 1998. He does play-by-play for football and basketball. His broadcast duties include Sports Anchor and Reporter.

A native of Cincinnati, Keels began his broadcast career at WLW Radio in Cincinnati followed by a stint for WHIO Radio in Dayton. He is now in his 19th year as the “Voice of the Buckeyes” in Columbus. He is a member of the Radio/TV Broadcasting Hall of Fame of Ohio.

All area OSU alumni and interested Buckeye friends are invited to attend the celebration honoring scholarship winners on May 19. Dress is casual Buckeye wear. The famed OSU Buckeyeman, Larry Lokai, will be in attendance to lead cheers and to give his Buckeye necklaces and seedlings to award recipients. Mary Powers will provide handcrafted OSU teddy bears to awardees.

Scholarship winners are honored guests of the club while the charge for others is $10. Reservation deadline is May 13 and can be e-mailed to John Feltz at [email protected].
