BEAVERCREEK — The BibleBowl team consisting of four teenagers from Beavercreek Christian Church (BCC) goes undefeated in the National BibleBowl Tournament to win the National Championship.

The team of Abby Fasnacht, Emily Gass, Abigail Guthrie, and Nicholas Staigl traveled to Anaheim, CA and went undefeated through the double-elimination style tournament on their way to winning the championship.

The team also finished first in the Team Test Average portion of the event, and Emily Gass finished second overall in the individual competition.

Bible Bowl is a quick recall program started in 1963 where students compete over their knowledge of scripture. A selected book or books of the Bible is determined as the text each season. A team competes against another team over a selected segment of the text in a 14-minute game; the team with the most points at the end of the game wins!

BCC team members study a particular book of the Bible year-round for several hours per week. This year’s text was the book of Luke. Regional competitions are held throughout the year in preparation for the national tournament.

The 2015 National BibleBowl Tournament was featured on TLC last year.
