XENIA — Greene County Career Center’s annual open house and chili supper is Thursday, Dec. 8, 5-7 p.m.

Prospective students of all ages and their families are invited for free chili and a chance to experience Greene County Career Center. All career-technical program labs will be open and admissions staff and teachers will be available throughout the building to answer questions.

In the spotlight will be the 18 career-technical programs for high school 11th and 12th graders. These programs include pathways in transportation, agriculture, public safety, human services, business, health care, manufacturing, construction and the arts. Representatives from Clark State Community College and Sinclair Community College will be on hand to explain their partnerships with Greene County Career Center and how Tech Prep Scholarships apply to each student. Information will also be available regarding Ohio’s College Credit Plus initiative.

“Our open house is the best opportunity for parents to see what Greene County Career Center has to offer,” said Public Information Administrator Ron Bolender. “Many of the sophomores who are hoping to attend here next school year have already visited, but their parents always want to confirm the positive things they are hearing. We offer the chance for students to have a strong foundation for a career and college. With the cost of a four-year college education skyrocketing, we are a solid option for parents to consider. We have seen a spike in enrollment over the last two school years as parents realize how much college costs and they see how we can help.”

The school will also be offering two new programs next year – Sports and Exercise Science and Career X. Sports and Exercise Science is for students interested in athletic and personal training and rehabilitation. Career X is for those with special career requirements and goals and can lead directly to job placement.

Greene County Career Center is located at 2960 W. Enon Road in Xenia Township. The event is free and open to the public. For more information, call the school at 937-372-6941.
