BEAVERCREEK — The American College of Surgeons (ACS) has re-certified Soin Medical Center as a verified Level III Trauma Center.
Soin opened its doors in February 2012 as a 70-bed, 5-story, 276,000-square-foot facility. The medical center opened its Level III Trauma Center in October of the same year. An expansion was completed in June 2015, adding 22,000 square feet and 12 beds to its emergency department.
“We have the second busiest Emergency Room in Kettering Health Network,” Soin Medical Center and Greene Memorial Hospital President Rick Dodds said. “That speaks for the need in the community.”
Kettering Health Network provides care for all levels of emergencies. Some trauma victims need an advanced level of care, and a designated trauma center decreases the likelihood of injury or death for these patients.
Verified trauma centers meet the essential criteria that ensure trauma care capability and institutional performance as outlined by the ACS’ Committee on Trauma. This achievement recognizes the Soin trauma center’s dedication to providing optimal care for injured patients.
According to Kettering Health Network’s website, Level III centers have resources for emergency stabilization, resuscitation, surgery, and intensive care of most trauma patients. They are able to transport patients to Level I or II trauma centers when a higher level of care is needed.

The emergency and trauma department staff at Soin has a high level of expertise in trauma surgery and critical care.”
