XENIA — The Greene County Jail inmate who was found on the sidewalk last week after breaking his isolation cell window and falling three stories was sentenced July 10 in Greene County Common Pleas Court to 20 years in prison.

The final disposition and sentencing hearing for Bryan Goney, 38, was rescheduled due to Goney’s medical conditions. Goney is suffering from multiple fractures due to the fall.

A Greene County jury found Goney guilty of robbery, kidnapping and abduction in April after three days of trial and three hours of deliberation.

Goney was arrested in November 2016 as a suspect in a robbery that occurred at the Circle K on East Dayton Yellow Springs Road in Fairborn.

According to court records, Goney will serve a mandatory term of eight years for robbery, a 2nd-degree felony, plus a mandatory two years because the defendant was found by the court to be a repeat violent offender. He will also serve a mandatory term of 8 years for kidnapping, a 2nd-degree felony, and two years for the repeat violent offender specification that goes along with it. There is no mandatory term sentence for the third charge, abduction, which is a 3rd-degree-felony.

The specifications and sentences are to be served consecutively, with the specifications to be served prior to each term of imprisonment, resulting in the total sentence of 20 years at the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction.

Goney has received 241 days jail time credit.

According to Greene County Sheriff Gene Fischer, a new investigation began last week after the jail incident for possible escape charges.
