XENIA — Greene County Farm Forum’s major fundraising event for providing agriculture scholarships is fast approaching with an evening filled with food and entertainment. The picnic will be held Saturday, Aug. 19 at the Greene County Fairground’s Dining Hall, 120 Fairground Road.
The picnic starts at 6 p.m. with a meal served at 6:30 p.m. The entertainment for the evening includes the Mic & Gloria Murphy Show. They will share their musical background which includes songs from the 40s to the 80s including takeoffs like “Back in the Saddle Again,” “He-Haw,” and “Pencil Thin Mustache.” They also blend their voices in such hits as “All I Need to Know,” “Wonder Why” and “You Don’t Bring Me Flowers.”
Tickets are $20 per person for adults, children age 10 and under are $4.50 each and guaranteed reservations can be given to Jim and Ann Byrd at 937-429-1805.
Mail them a check for tickets or send your donation in care of Jim and Ann, 1566 Beaverbrook Drive, Beavercreek, Ohio 45432. If you donate a $100 or more you can receive two free tickets to the picnic. The Greene County Farm Forum is partnering with Greene Giving to make all donations tax deductible make checks payable to Greene Giving with Greene County Farm Forum in the check memo.
The meal is a good one with stuffed chicken breast, butterflied pork chops, twice baked potatoes, seven-layer salad, peach crisp, peanut butter pie and coffee, tea and rolls. Meal will be served by Middleton’s Catering.
Scholarship recipients for 2017
Those selected to receive Farm Forum agriculture scholarships for 2017 include: Stephen Holton of Spring Valley, graduate of Xenia High School, he plans to attend Wilmington College and study agriculture with a specialty in agronomy; Allison Rapp of Xenia, graduate of XHS plans to attend OSU and study animal science; Sarah Harner of Xenia, graduate of XHS, . plans to attend the Ohio State Agricultural Technical Institute and study animal science and Madison Kilbarger of Jamestown, graduate of Greenview High School and plans to attend the University of Tennessee and study agribusiness. Each will receive $1,250.
