As Hurricane Irma makes its way toward the United States, those in or near the path of the predicted areas of impact are taking necessary precautions to ensure safety. Eight F-15 military aircraft evacuated from the 125th Fighter Wing of Jacksonville Air National Guard Base in Florida Sept. 7 to seek shelter from the storm at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.

Lt. Col. Samantha Adducchio of the 269 Combat Communications Squadron in Springfield. Six individuals from the squadron deployed from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base for Puerto Rico Sept. 7 to help with relief efforts in relation to communications. They were alerted of the possibility of taking off Sept. 4 and were given the orders to depart Sept. 7. They are expected to stay for seven days

More military aircraft are expected to land Sept. 8 including six F-15s from the 125th Fighter Wing out of Jacksonville Air National Guard Base, in Fla.; eight P-8s and six P-3s from the Patrol Squadron Thirty out of Naval Air Station in Jacksonville, Fla.; and three C-17s from the 437th Airlift Wing at Charleston Air Force Base in S.C.
