About 100 individuals gathered at the Beavercreek Wal-Mart on the one-year anniversary of John Crawford III’s death Wednesday. The store closed down for a portion of Wednesday afternoon and evening during planned rallies on and near store property.

Police were dispatched to the store Aug. 5, 2014, after a 911 caller saw Crawford walking around the store with a pellet rifle. According to police accounts of the incident, Crawford was shot after he did not respond to verbal commands to drop the rifle.
