Niekamp receives MS

ALLENDALE, Mich. – Eric B. Niekamp of Beavercreek received a master’s degree in science. Niekamp was one of many students who received degrees during spring/summer semester.

Xuan Quyen Vu inducted

BATON ROUGE, Lo. — Xuan Quyen Vu of Beavercreek was recently initiated into the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society. Vu was initiated at Marshall University.

Vu is among approximately 30,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year. Membership is by invitation only and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only the top 10 percent of seniors and 7.5 percent of juniors are eligible for membership.

AU Phi Kappa Psi members

ASHLAND — William Taylor of Fairborn is a member of Ashland University’s Phi Kappa Psi. Taylor is majoring in theatre. Taylor is a 2017 graduate of Carroll High School.

The Ashland University chapter of Phi Kappa Psi focuses on philanthropy and raising money for their national charity, The Boys and Girls Club of America. The gentlemen of Phi Kappa Psi define success by living toward their creed of becoming “a brotherhood of honorable men, courteous and cultured, who pledge throughout their lives to be generous, compassionate and loyal comrades.”

Local students receive degrees

OXFORD — More than 500 Miami University students earned a degree during Miami University’s summer term.

Local students include: Abbey Mauch of Dayton, master of science; Bridget O’Dell of Fairborn, bachelor of arts Cum Laude; Erin Ransom of Fairborn, master of education and Tracy Truett of Dayton, bachelor of integrative studies Cum Laude.
