Century Ride participants will receive an one-of-a-kind medallion to commemorate their accomplishment.

Friendships are just as important as cycling as Greene County Parks & Trails Maintenance Operations Supervisor Rick Inman visits with a returning cyclist.

XENIA — Local cyclists are encouraged to join the one-day Century Ride on July 17, during this year’s Greene Trails Cycling Classic hosted by Greene County Parks & Trails (GCP&T) and Kil-Kare Raceway.

Two options are available for local cyclists with a 62-mile Metric Century Ride and 100-mile Century Ride on the Little Miami Scenic Trail from Xenia to Miamiville.

“Cyclists may choose our traditional 100-mile Century Ride on the Little Miami Scenic Trail from Xenia to Miamiville and back,” GCP&T Events Manager Robin Gregory said. “We are also offering a 62-mile Metric Century Ride from Xenia to Morrow and back. As always, cyclists can turn around at any time if the mileage is too challenging. One-of-a-kind awards will be awarded to those who complete either Century Ride.”

The one-day Century Ride will allow local riders to experience the camaraderie of the cycling event and meet cyclists from across the nation who return year after year to ride the renowned paved trails network.

GCP&T manages 62 miles of paved trails in Greene County, which is part of the nation’s largest network of paved trails.

During the day’s ride, cyclists can visit unique shops and restaurants, as well as shop in the Antiques Capital of the Midwest in Waynesville. All purchases will be picked up and transported back to the event headquarters by the event’s Support-and-Gear (SAG) team.

“Our Greene Trails Cycling Classic (GTCC) Cavalry or SAG team will also be available for repairs, couriers for purchases or just bringing tired cyclists back home to headquarters,” said Gregory.

Friday evening offers the option of enjoying a relaxing evening at Caesar Creek Vineyards just east of Xenia with dinner (for a nominal fee). PA’s Pork will be on-site with their gourmet food truck. Relaxing music will also be part of the countryside meal.

All funds raised from the Greene Trails Cycling Classic are used to maintain the trails network.

Reduced Century Ride fees for Greene County residents are $25; $10 for cyclists between the ages of five and 12.
