FAIRBORN – The Fairborn 26th annual 5K Run/Walk will take place at 8 a.m. Saturday, July 18, at Rona Hills Park.

Registration forms can be found online at fairborn5krunwalk.itsyourrace.com/register and are also available at the Government Center on 44 W. Hebble Avenue and the Parks and Recreation office at Community Park. Registrations received by July 1 are $20 and a shirt is included with registration. After July 1, registration is $25 and a shirt may not be guaranteed.

Proceeds raised from this event allow the Parks and Recreation Division to provide cultural, educational and recreational programs at little or no cost to the public.

For volunteers, assistance is needed in many areas, including registration, split time calling, water stations, refreshments, photography, finish line and race route assistance. To volunteer, contact the Fairborn Recreation Coordinator Mindy Weaver at 754-3090 or by e-mail at [email protected]. All volunteers receive a shirt and refreshments for assisting with the race.

Race participants are eligible for door prizes from generous sponsors as well as cash awards. A cash prize of $150 will go the male or female record breaker. Josh Ordway set the male record time of 14:46 in 2007. Ann Alyanak set the female record time of 16:55 in 2011.

A cash prize of $25 goes to the first male and first female over 65 to cross the finish line. Awards are presented to the first three people in each male/female age group, overall male and female, and first Fairborn male and female to cross the finish line.

Streets along the course will close at 7:30 a.m. and will reopen when all participants have passed. All runners and volunteers will be provided food and refreshments.
