XENIA — Kala Stidham Benton grew up in Xenia, so it seemed only natural when she choose a career that it would bring her back home to Greene County.

Now the Patient Experience Manager for Greene Memorial Hospital and Soin Medical Center, Benton is excited about her position and takes pride in treating all patients like family and neighbors.

She graduated from Xenia High School in 2006 and received a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Harding University in Arkansas. In the fall she will complete her Master’s degree in nursing administration.

Kala and husband Seth have been together for three years and live in Jamestown.

As the patient experience manager, Kala’s responsibilities include informing and guiding staff, listening to patients and families for improvements, and coaching staff to implement suggestions and processes that make for a better experience.

“A large portion of my job is to examine every stage of the patient experience, ensuring our treatment is the very best.”

Kala believes excellent patient care begins and concludes with precise communications with physicians, nurses, and staff.

“I also spend my time circulating through both facilities, ensuring patient comfort along with educating and supporting staff. I want to personalize everyone’s experience and make certain patients feel like family. I enjoy working at both locations within the Kettering Health Network.”

“Satisfaction is important to all of us,” she added. “We know that no one looks forward to a hospital visit or stay, but if we can continually put ourselves in a patient’s place, we can find ways to make it less stressful, if not a good experience.”

When Kala isn’t working, she’s involved in the Greene County Fair Senior Board Entertainment and Advertising Committee and the Agricultural Society. In addition she enjoys camping and boating with her husband.
