Community library announces programs


BEAVERCREEK — The Beavercreek Community Library is planning a variety of programs for people of all ages in May. The library is located at 3618 Dayton-Xenia Road. Some programs require registration for more information or to register call 937-352-4001.

Teen Advisory Group for grades 6-12, 4:30-5:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 2. Over snacks, talk about books and programs and activities. Registration required.

Mr. Tim’s 4th Annual Writing Class for ages 9-14 with adult, 6:30-7:45 a.m. Thursday, May 4. Talk about creativity, poetry, and fiction. The class will culminate in publishing our own collection on Amazon. Both student and parent need to sign up. Registration required.

Saturday Stories for ages 3-6, 11-11:50 a.m. Saturday, May 6, from 11-11:50 a.m. Registration required.

Mother’s Day Cookies and Tea for ages 3-6, 12-12:45 p.m. Saturday May 6. Join Miss Carole and Miss Aubrey to make cookies and have tea with your favorite mother. Registration required.

Fan-Out: Fan Club for Teens, 1-2 p.m. Saturday, May 6. What trips your fan trigger? Each month we’ll focus on a different phenom Dr. Who, Buffy, Star Trek, Star Wars, Harry Potter, Final Fantasy. Registration required.

Book Discussion — All Dogs go to Kevin by Dr. Jessica Vogelsang for adults, 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 9. Join a discussion of All Dogs go to Kevin by Dr. Jessica Vogelsang. A veterinarian discusses the lessons her beloved dogs have imparted throughout her life and in her professional practice. Registration required.

Millennial Meet-Up Book Discussion for adults, 6:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 10. Be a part of an informal book discussion just for millennials. Registration required.

Series-ly Good Books: The Origami Yoda Sessions for ages 7-12, 4:45-5:30 p.m. Thursday, May 11.

Twice-Told Twisted Tales for ages 3-7, 11-11:45 a.m. Saturday, May 13, from 11-11:45 a.m. Registration required.

Super Smash Brothers Melee Tournament/Gaming and Pizza for grades 6-12, 12-2 p.m. Saturday, May 13. Bring your thumbs and prepare to play. Registration required.

Mr. Tim’s Spring Stories and Craft for ages 3-6, 10:30-11:30 p.m. Monday, May 15. Registration required.

Women’s Self Defense for adults, 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 18. This seminar is designed for women and taught by a woman. Wear comfortable clothing to participate in hands-on drills. Registration required.

Paws to Read for ages 3-12 with adult, 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, May 20. Read to four-footed, furry friends from the Miami Valley Pet Therapy Association. Registration required.

Teen DIY Tuesdays — Botanical Illustrations for grades 6-12, 4:30-5:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 23. Use plant forms as inspiration for your soft pastel artwork. Registration required.

Lego Play Day for ages 5-12, 11 a.m. Saturday, May 27. Build with Legos. Registration required.
