XENIA — Greene County Commissioners approved a contract Thursday to sell about 12 acres of property to the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT). The state agency will pay $336,000 for the property, which sits near the intersection of Innovation Way and State Route 380 south of Xenia.

According to ODOT Public Information Officer Sharon Smigielski, a new ODOT facility will be built on the property.

“We will constructing a new full service garage maintenance facility at that location,” she said.

According to Smigielski, the new facility would replace the current Greene County ODOT garage, which is located near the intersection of State Route 380 and Ledbetter Road in Xenia. Salt barns and maintenance garages would likely be housed at the new site.

According to Greene County Administrator Brandon Huddleson, the new garage will be similar to one of ODOT’s facilities in Warren County.

Construction on the facility is set to begin in 2017, Smigielski said.
