Greene County News Reports

XENIA — Stitching together the memories of more than ten years of participating in Greene County Parks & Trails’ Greene Trails Cycling Classic, Connie Drake of Independence, Mo., has handcrafted a quilt utilizing event T-shirts.

Each year, GCP&T’s Greene Trails Cycling Classic offers a commemorative t-shirt for that year’s event. The one-of-a-kind quilt features an event t-shirt from each year of the cycling fundraiser, which raises vital funds for the maintenance of 62 miles of paved trails managed by GCP&T. Both the general public and GTCC participants can purchase a GCP&T bicycle-themed keychain and the park agency will provide tickets for a door prize drawing.

Keychains will be available from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, July 16 to Friday, July 17 and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, July 18, at the event headquarters (park pavilion) at GCP&T’s Fairgrounds Recreation Center, 210 Fairground Road. The quilt will be awarded following the GTCC awards ceremony Saturday, July 18.

The 2015 Greene Trails Cycling Classicis presented by Kil-Kare Raceway and GCP&T July 16-19; participants may register for one, two, three or four days.

Both local and visiting cyclists participate for one, two, three, or four-days of cycling adventure showcasing the region’s 62 miles of paved, multi-use trails that is an integral part of the nation’s largest network of paved, off-street trails.
