XENIA — Stitching together the memories of more than ten years of participating in Greene County Parks & Trails’ Greene Trails Cycling Classic, Connie Drake of Independence, Mo., has handcrafted a quilt utilizing event T-shirts.

Each year, GCP&T’s Greene Trails Cycling Classic offers a commemorative t-shirt for that year’s event. The one-of-a-kind quilt features an event t-shirt from each year of the cycling fundraiser, which raises vital funds for the maintenance of 62 miles of paved trails managed by GCP&T. Both the general public and GTCC participants can purchase a GCP&T bicycle-themed keychain and the park agency will provide tickets for a door prize drawing.

Keychains will be available from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, July 16 to Friday, July 17 and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, July 18, at the event headquarters (park pavilion) at GCP&T’s Fairgrounds Recreation Center, 210 Fairground Road. The quilt will be awarded following the GTCC awards ceremony Saturday, July 18.

The 2015 Greene Trails Cycling Classicis presented by Kil-Kare Raceway and GCP&T July 16-19; participants may register for one, two, three or four days.

Both local and visiting cyclists participate for one, two, three, or four-days of cycling adventure showcasing the region’s 62 miles of paved, multi-use trails that is an integral part of the nation’s largest network of paved, off-street trails. The popular 100-Mile Century Ride and 62-Mile Metric Century Ride will be held on Friday, July 17 on the Little Miami Scenic Trail.

The event will feature a Mid-WESTERN theme this year as Greene County Parks & Trails celebrates its “Happy Trails.”

“Greene County Parks & Trails (GCP&T) is thrilled to be again hosting the Greene Trails Cycling Classic that raises vital funds to maintain the county’s trails. Our paved trails are renowned throughout the nation for their quality, safety and scenic locations. Cyclists come to Greene County from across the United States just to experience our five-trail system with four trails converging at Xenia Station. Trails translate into family memories as well as dollars and cents for the local economy,” said GCP&T Director Chrisbell Bednar.
