Lex Valdez earns law degree
BEAVERCREEK — The Peking University Law School in Beijing, China awarded Lex Armando Valdez of Beavercreek with an LL.M. master’s degree in Chinese law at the June 25 Commencement Ceremony.
While pursuing his law degree, Lex Valdez became a valuable asset to associates for his ability to translate legal documents from Chinese to English. During his six year stay in China. Valdez worked as a university English teacher before transitioning to law school. Lex Valdez is a graduate of Beavercreek High School and the University of Kentucky.
Valdez earns certificate
BEAVERCREEK — The Bluegrass Community and Technical College awarded Louis Maximino Valdez a welding certificate at the BCTC Commencement Ceremony on May 6.
While attending BCTC’s welding program, Louis Valdez of Beavercreek had the distinction of earning a place on the dean’s list for three straight semesters. Valdez now works in the the automobile industry, making essential engine components at International Crankshaft, Incorporated in Georgetown, Ky. He is a graduate of Summit Academy High School and former Beavercreek City Schools student.
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — A total of 11,347 students enrolled during the 2018 spring semester at The University of Alabama were named to the dean’s list with an academic record of 3.5 or above.
The UA Dean’s Lists recognize full-time undergraduate students. The following Greene County residents received that honor: Carson M. Derringer of Beavercreek and Carrie E. Schmitt of Bellbrook.
Harlow named to list
CLEMSON, S.C. — Taylor E. Harlow of Beavercreek has been named to the president’s list at Clemson University for the spring 2018 semester. Harlow is majoring in health science. To be named to the President’s List, a student must achieve a 4.0 (all As) grade-point average.
MU Dean’s List
OXFORD — Miami University students who are ranked in the top 20 percent of undergraduate students within each division for second semester 2017-18 have been named to the dean’s list recognizing academic excellence. The following Greene County residents were honored: Julia Poth, Vincent Tong, Hunter Gazda, Becca Rogers both of Bellbrook; Luke Carrafiello, Allison Huntington, Paige Johnson, Noah Cali, David Genari, Martin Archer of Beavercreek; Gabi Perez of Fairborn.
WHEATON, Ill. — Wheaton College congratulates the more than 400 students who graduated in May 2018. April M. Futch of Beavercreek graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor of science in -hysics. Conner Benjamin Imbody of Beavercreek graduated with a bachelor of arts in sociology and minors in biology and chemistry.
