Fire prevention event

BEAVERCREEK — Beavercreek Township Fire Department is having their Fire Prevention Open House this year 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13 at 2195 Dayton Xenia Road.

There will be demonstrations, a chili cook off, static displays and activities. As in past years, the open house will be held at the same time Beavercreek City is hosting their Try A Truck.

Hall of Fame

BEAVERCREEK — The Beavercreek High School Alumni Association announces the Class of 2018 Hall of Fame Inductees: Terry Vincent Arnold, 1966, Dallas Lloyd Baldwin, 1971, Roberta Ann Bistline-Carpenter, 1959, Eric William Fulcomer, 1989 and Laurie Lewis-Jones, 1983.

BRWC holds candidate’s night

BEAVERCREEK — The Beavercreek Republican Women’s Club will hold a candidate’s night 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15, Nazarene Church 1850 N. Fairfield Road in the Fireside Room.

Candidates that are on our ballot will attend. Representatives to discuss levies and information on Issue one. This is a free community event. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions.

Teal Pumpkin Prairie Maze

BEAVERCREEK — The Teal Pumpkin Praire Maze pre-Halloween celebration will take place 10 a.m.-12 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at the Koogler Wetland/Prairie Reserve on Beaver Valley Road. Families will hike the trails of the Reserve to view the habitat of beneficial creatures that get a bad rap at Halloween – spiders, owls, snakes and bats. Participants may visit four hands-on, educational stations to learn about each creature and get a special non-food treat, while supplies last. Bring a Trick–or–Treat bag. Long pants and closed toe shoes are recomended.

BEAVERCREEK — The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 763 membership meeting will be held 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5 at the Post, 2300 Dayton-Xenia Road. Stop at Post 763 if you want membership information.

Holiday bazaar

BEAVERCREEK — St. Andrew United Methodist Church will host its annual holiday bazaar, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10 at the church, 350 N. Fairfield Road. There will be holiday crafts, jewelry, clothing, toys, CDs, books, sweet treats and much more. In addition pictures with Santa will be taken and homemade pies available. Proceeds benefit the community.

Veterans Day Ceremony

BEAVERCREEK — The City of Beavercreek Veterans Day Ceremony will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11 at Veterans Memorial Park, 1911 N. Fairfield Road. The ceremony will honor and say thank you to all those many Americans who have served in the armed forces and those men and women currently defending our freedoms and the ideals of our country.

Colonel Thomas P. Sherman will be the guest speaker. Colonel Sherman is the 88th Air Base Wing and Installation Commander at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. Parking is available on Fairwood Drive and at the Church of the Nazarene. Limited bleacher seating is available, lawn chairs are welcome. Volunteer drivers, escorts needed

BEAVERCREEK — The Beavercreek Senior Center is seeking volunteer drivers and escorts for the transportation program. The center provides rides for seniors who don’t have another viable way to get to the doctor, grocery, rehab, the Center, dialysis and many other destinations.

Council meetings

BEAVERCREEK — The Beavercreek City Council meets 6 p.m. the second and fourth Monday each month at city hall, 1368 Research Park Drive, Second Floor. Workshops are held as needed.

Township trustees meetings

BEAVERCREEK TOWNSHIP — Beavercreek Township Trustees meet 1 p.m. second and fourth Mondays at Beavercreek Township’s Community Room, 2195 Dayton-Xenia Road in the lower level of the Fire Station 61. Zoning commissioner meetings are held 7:30 p.m. the first Thursday of the month.
