BEAVERCREEK — The principal of Main Elementary, Sharma Nachlinger, requested a new sign be placed during school hours to restrict turning right on red for the safety of the children.
The school has been seeing increased issues with vehicle turning right on red during school hours at the traffic light controlling southbound flow of traffic at the intersection of Hanes Road and Dayton-Xenia Road.
The principal requested that the signage be identical to the existing one implemented for the westbound traffic at Dayton-Xenia Road. The new sign would restrict vehicles from turning right to allow the students safe passage while crossing the street.
City council approved the initial request. The issue will move to the second and third reading.
