XENIA & BEAVERCREEK – A nurse for 35 years, Brenda Kuhn strives to provide the best care possible to her patients and, in her new leadership role as Vice President of Patient Care for Soin Medical Center and Greene Memorial Hospital, she believes it is an opportunity to impact more patients at once.

“I want patients to have the best care possible and I feel I can impact even more patients in this role,” said Kuhn.

After nursing and teaching for several years, she was inspired to advance her education. Kuhn received her nurse training at Kettering College and Wright State University. She also obtained her master’s degree from Central Michigan College and her PhD in public policy from University of Southern California.

Kuhn grew up Vandalia and spent time in California before coming to work with Kettering Health Network in 2004. She now lives in Centerville.

Her philosophy is to treat patients as if they are a loved one. “This is what drives how we provide the best care to our patients.”

Kuhn believes it takes a special person and loving environment to be a nurse.

“For me, Soin and Greene are great because they are part of a faith-based network. I love being given the opportunity to pray with a patient and their family – I see these opportunities as caring for the whole person – not just their health needs.”

In addition to her role as VP of Nursing, Kuhn is also the Chief Nursing Officer for Kettering Health Network.

“Here at KHN we feel it’s important to have faith part of the care system and see it as an opportunity to be the hands and feet of Christ,” she added.

Brenda has been married for 30 years and has two children. When not working, she loves being a mother, traveling and cooking.

In her new role, she set some important goals for her new position.

“My goal is to witness how these two hospitals contribute to the community and support them in a way that best serves these two unique communities. In addition, this is an opportunity to provide the patient with a whole network of resources to add to the overall quality of their healthcare experience.”
