BEAVERCREEK — Brad Morrison is enjoying his new role as Soin Medical Center’s Director of Nursing and Inpatient Care, which makes him accountable for ICU, Medical/Surgical floors, and the Emergency Department.

Morrison sees his vision as simple – he wants to provide a positive atmosphere, celebrate the staff’s successes, all while making the best experience possible for patients.

“A good director knows how to be compassionate and caring,” said Morrison. “I think those qualities should shine through in everything we do. It is also important to set a positive tone and be supportive. The key to success is for all of us to work as a team. If we all know our teammates, together we can accomplish great things.”

Morrison believes God opened the door that led him from public health to where he is today.

“God opened the door and I have never looked back,” he added.

The director received his master’s degree from Boston University in public health. It was then he was inspired to go back to college and obtain a clinical degree.

His nursing career started on the night shift at an Ukiah, California hospital. After some experience he moved up to charge nurse and helping lead the emergency department team. He then moved into administration as director of the emergency department at another sister hospital in California.

“Nursing is such rewarding work,” he said. “Plus I love working with people and as a team.”

He found his way to Kettering Health Network and Soin Medical Center through some friends who invited him to come see the hospital. Again a door opened and he found himself moving to Centerville, Ohio with his family.

“Ohio was a big adjustment – knowing and learning a new place,” he said. “But we really love it.”

Brad is married to Kimberly, a registered nurse, and they have three boys, 7, 10, 12.

When he’s not working at Soin, Morrison loves being active outdoors with his family.

“Soin is such a beautiful facility. But it’s also one of the best in the region to take care of patients. I see that – as a team – we can continue to accomplish some amazing things for every patient we serve.”
