Heritage Day

BEAVERCREEK — Wartinger Historical Park will host Heritage Day 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17 at the park on 3080 Kemp Road, east of Fairfield Road. The event will include old-fashioned children’s games and activities, general store, tour of the log homes, barn and gardens.

The day will include artisan demonstrations and items for sale. The event is a tribute to the Zinks – an early frontier family in Beavercreek. In addition Jacob Coy Middle School Show Choir will perform and the Greene County Master Gardeners Plant Sale will take place 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The event is sponsored by Soin Medical Center for more information go to www.beavercreekhistorical society.org.

Monarch tagging event

BEAVERCREEK TOWNSHIP — The Beaver Creek Wetlands Association will conduct a Monarch butterfly tagging event 2:30-4:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17 at Koogler Wetland/Prairie Preserve on the corner of Beaver Valley Road and New Germany-Trebein Road.

Bring the kids and become citizen scientists by helping to capture migrating Monarch butterflies, record some data, then tag and release them to continue their long journey to their winter home in central Mexico. Perennial plant exchange

BEAVERCREEK — Beavercreek Department of Parks, Recreation & Culture will host their fall perennial plant exchange 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17 at Rotary Park on Dayton-Xenia Road. Setup and preview time is 9:30 a.m.

Bring at least 10 plants to swap. Gardeners are asked to bring perennials bulbs, rhizomes, trees, shrubs or indoor plants. All plants should be potted. Please bag all bulbs and rhizomes. Each plant should be clearly labeled.

All plants will be set out according to type. During the preview time participants will have a chance to look at the varieties available and talk with other gardeners. When trading every person picks the first plant of choice. The picking continues through 10 rounds. There will also be a raffle table. Event rain or shine.

Volunteers sought

BEAVERCREEK — ArtFest will be held 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 18 at the Beavercreek Community Park at Factory Road at Route US Route 35, next to the bike path.

ArtFest will be held rain or shine. Local artists of all ages and genres are encouraged to submit their art for consideration of show and sale according to the instructions online at infusion-art.org/artfest. Local food trucks will be present, along with performing arts, interactive art activities, live music and art for sale.

Pre-retirement seminar for teachers

BEAVERCREEK — Greene County Retired Teachers Association is planning a free pre-retirement planning seminar 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4 at Beavercreek Nazarene Church, 1850 N. Fairfield Road. The event is for all Ohio Public School teachers and administrators that are within two years or less of retirement.

Speaking will be representatives from State Teachers Retirement System of Ohio, the Association Member Benefits Advisers, the Ohio Retired Teachers Association and the Greene County Teachers Association.
