BEAVERCREEK — The City of Beavercreek announced the names of four finalists in the search for their successor city manager following the planned retirement of current City Manager Michael Cornell at the end of the year.
The four candidates have been invited for interviews in Beavercreek on Oct. 25-26.
Beavercreek Mayor Bob Stone said, “City council implemented a comprehensive community outreach plan to engage as many Beavercreek stakeholders as possible in voicing their vision for a new city manager and participating in the process every step along the way. We are looking forward to meeting all the finalists.”
The nationwide search is being conducted by Strategic Government Resources — a local government executive search firm based in Keller, Texas. SGR’s recruitment and vetting process produced an impressive field of highly-skilled candidates with a wide range of experience. The city received 26 applications from individuals in 12 states, 18 of the applicants had local government management experience.
Candidate vetting for the search includes a comprehensive questionnaire, interviews, a psychometric assessment, a thorough media search, and a rigorous background investigation.
The four finalists include:
Nicole Ard is an ICMA Credentialed Manager with more than 20 years of experience in local government. She most recently served as the city manager for Sandusky from 2011-2014. She previously served as the assistant town manager and public works director for Hillsborough, N.C. and the assistant to the town manager for Leesburg, Va. and held intern positions in the cities of Dublin and Dayton and Phoenix, Ariz. She is a member of the International City/County Management Association and the Ohio City/County Management Association. She holds a master’s degree in public administration from Ohio State University and a bachelor’s degree in political science and economics from Howard University. She lives in Sandusky.
Anthony J. Carson, Jr. is an ICMA Credentialed Manager who has more 18 years of local government experience, with almost 10 years of city management experience. He was most recently the city manager for Painesville, where he served from 2013 to 2016. He previously served as the town administrator for Berlin, Md., the town manager for Fenwick Island, Del. and the county administrator for Trumbull County in Warren. He is a member of the International City/County Management Association and the Ohio City/County Management Association. He holds a master’s degree in public administration from Valdosta State University and a bachelor’s degree in general studies from Kent State University. He lives in Painesville.
George Korthauer has more than 30 years of service in local government. He was the city manager for Petoskey, Mich. for 25 years, holding the position until 2009. He is currently the CEO of Allied EMS Systems, Inc. in Harbor Springs, Mich., and is also a search consultant for the Michigan Municipal League. He has served as interim city manager for Cheboygan, Mich., assistant village manager for Glencoe, Ill. and assistant park district director for Bensenville Park District in Illinois. He is a member of ICMA and the Michigan Local Government Management Association. He holds a master’s degree in public administration from Roosevelt University and a bachelor’s degree in political Science from Western Illinois University. He lives in Petoskey, Mich.
Pete Landrum has more than 20 years of experience in local government. He is currently the township administrator for Delhi Township in Cincinnati where he has served since 2012. He previously served as the assistant county administrator and director of the office of management and budget for Butler County in Hamilton and held the positions of Juvenile Court Finance Director, management analyst and Job and Family Services Supervisor for Montgomery County in Dayton. He is a member of ICMA and the Ohio City/County Management Association. He holds a master’s degree in public administration and a bachelor’s degree in social and industrial communications from Wright State University. He lives in Miamisburg.
The two-day interview process will include community tours, candidate engagement sessions with department heads and a community stakeholders panel. Additionally, the public is invited to attend a community meet and greet for residents and interested stakeholders to meet and interact with the finalists 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25 in the Beavercreek Council Chambers, 1368 Research Park Drive. The second day concludes with candidate interviews with the city council on Oct. 26.
