XENIA — The Monday, Jan. 23 meeting of Greene County Farm Forum will feature Lacey Sharp, DVM with Veterinary Associates Animal Hospital sharing the latest information on the use of drugs (as amended by the Food and Drug Administration) used in or on animal feed that went into effect Jan. 1, 2017.

This directive is designed to decrease the use of antibiotics used in animal production that may impact human health such as antibiotic resistance and antibiotic overuse. She will cover what antibiotics are affected by this legislation and what it will require producers, feed mills and veterinarians to do to comply with these new regulations. The directive applies mainly to cattle, sheep and poultry as well as other food producing species (e.g., honey bees, fish).

The meeting will start 6:30 p.m. and will be held at Union United Methodist Church, 393 Washington Rd., Xenia. A meal will be served prior to the program at a cost of $10 per person. RSVP for dinner are due by Friday, Jan. 20. No reservations are necessary to just attend the meeting. For reservations contact Paul Ayres at 937-352-6379 or email [email protected].

The meeting is open to the public and is sponsored by Greene County Farm Forum.
