Student recognized

WACO, Texas — Baylor University students were named to the dean’s academic honor roll for the 2016 fall semester. To be named to the Dean’s List, a student must be an undergraduate with a minimum grade-point average of 3.7, while enrolled in a minimum of 12 semester hours. Kaylie G. Page of Beavercreek, a college of arts and sciences student was named to that list.

Students named to honor society

BATON ROUGE, Lo. — The following local residents recently were initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines. The following Greene County students were named to the honor society: Davin Mao of Beavercreek and Danielle Graham of Fairborn. Both were initiated at Wright State University.

These residents are among approximately 30,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year. Membership is by invitation and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only the top 10 percent of seniors and 7.5 percent of juniors, having at least 72 semester hours, are eligible for membership.

MU students study abroad

OXFORD, Ohio — Miami University students spent the fall 2016 semester in a study abroad group. With 49 percent of Miami undergraduate students studying abroad for credit by the time they graduate, Miami is ranked 1st among public doctoral institutions nationwide for students studying abroad. Greene County residents part of that program include: Alexus Chavana of Dayton studied in Italy; Meghan Harris of Dayton studied in Luxembourg and Morgan Neal of Yellow Springs studied in Luxembourg.

Students receive honor

WHEATON, Ill. — Wheaton College students were named to the Dean’s List for the fall 2016 semester. Dean’s List honors are earned by undergraduate students who carry 12 or more credit hours and achieve a 3.5 grade point average or higher on the 4.0 scale. The following Greene County residents were named to the list: April Futch of Dayton and Conner Imbody of Beavercreek.

Local residents earn honors

HAYS, Kansas — Several Ohio students are among the 1,471 named by Fort Hays State University, Hays, Kansas, to the Deans Honor Roll for the fall 2016 semester.

To be eligible, students must have enrolled in 12 or more credit hours and have a minimum grade point average of 3.60 for the semester. Full-time on-campus and FHSU Virtual College students are eligible.

The following Greene County students were honored: Mary L. Wilson of Bellbrook is majoring in justice studies; Kelli Hall of Fairborn is a junior majoring in justice studies.

OWU students recognized

DELAWARE, Ohio — Ohio Wesleyan University is pleased to announce its 2016 fall semester Dean’s List. To qualify for OWU Dean’s List recognition, students must earn a grade point average of 3.5 or better on a 4.0 scale in all applicable classes. Local students earning dean’s list recognition include: Speridoula Karras of Bellbrook; Shannon Schlater and Orion Wright of Fairborn.

Illinois Wesleyan dean’s list

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The following students were named to the dean’s list for the fall semester of the 2016-17 academic year at Illinois Wesleyan University: Laura Bullock and Rachel Westerkamp both of Beavercreek. To be on the Dean’s List, a student must have a grade-point average of 3.50 or better during the semester, based on 4.0 for straight As.

Dean’s honor roll for Fall 2016

HAYS, Kansas — Mary Lassena Wilson, a justice studies major, was named to the Fort Hays State University dean’s honor roll for the fall 2016 semester. To be eligible, students must have enrolled in 12 or more credit hours and have a minimum grade point average of 3.60 for the semester.

Hale graduates earn deplomas

SEARCY, Ark. — John Hale of Beavercreek is one of more than 400 graduates who received a diploma at Harding University’s commencement exercises Dec. 17. Hale received a bachelor of science in medical technology.
