BEAVERCREEK — Author Julie K. Rubini will visit Books & Co. 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 30 at The Greene, 4453 Walnut St. to introduce Virginia Hamilton: America’s storyteller. In it, she tells the story of one of the most honored authors of children’s literature in the 20th century.

Virginia wrote 41 books, which were driven by her focus on “the known, the remembered, and the imagined” often featuring African American characters. She received every major award for children’s literature and called Yellow Springs, her home until her death in 2002. Her work and legacy live on.

This most expansive biography of Virginia Hamilton published for young readers was vetted for accuracy by her husband, poet Arnold Adoff. It is the fourth installment in the Biographies for Young Readers series. It will be enjoyed by young readers and adults alike.
