WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE — Gate 12A (AFMC HQ gate) will be closed to all inbound and outbound traffic construction has begun.

“We appreciate everyone’s cooperation while we work to resurface the pavement around the AFMC headquarters gate.” said Col. Bradley McDonald, 88th Air Base Wing and Wright-Patterson installation commander. “We hope to alleviate congestion, as much as possible, at the other gates caused by the temporary closure of Gate 12A.”

During the resurfacing project, Gate 15A (844th gate) will be the 24-hour gate. Gate 1A (Kittyhawk/Fairborn gate) and Gate 26A (445th gate) will operate on normal hours, but with an expectation of increased traffic flow at all gates.

Employees and visitors should anticipate delays during peak travel hours and adjust their travel plans accordingly, especially during the morning, lunchtime and afternoon hours.

Travelers around the construction area are asked to be patient and cautious as heavy equipment will be operating near the area.

Construction is expected to be complete Friday, Nov. 10, at which time Gate 12A will reopen for normal duty hours. Updates during the construction will be provided in the Skywrighter, the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base website at www.wpafb.af.mil and the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Facebook page at www.facebook.com/WPAFB/.
