XENIA — A Yellow Springs man pleaded not guilty to drug and rape offenses in Greene County Common Pleas Court Nov. 3.

Court records indicate Michael M. Gentile, 20, posted the original $50,000 surety (blanket) bond Oct. 27. But during the arraignment Friday, it was announced that Judge Michael Buckwalter, who is assigned to the case, asked the court to set the bond at $200,000. Gentile and his attorney Jon Paul Rion were instructed to follow up with the judge after the hearing.

Gentile was indicted by a grand jury last week on four counts of rape, a first-degree felony; sexual battery, a third-degree felony; gross sexual imposition, a fourth-degree felony; corrupting another with drugs, a second-degree felony; aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony and two counts of vandalism, a fifth-degree felony.

The indictment released by the Greene County Prosecutor’s Office shows that the charges stem from an alleged May 22 incident involving the defendant allegedly providing or administering a controlled substance to a juvenile at least two years younger than him.

The vandalism charges are separate.

Pre-trial hearings for both cases are scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 7; final pre-trial hearings, Thursday, Nov. 30.
