FAIRBORN — The latest win for the Wright State men’s basketball team clinched a top-four seed in the upcoming Horizon League post-season tournament. That means the women and men will host a home quarterfinal game 5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 5 respectively. Doors will open at 4:30 p.m.

Tickets for the double-header are $10 for Premium seats (first 12 rows) and $5 for all other seat locations. Simmons player of the week

FAIRBORN — Wright State University women’s basketball player Symone Simmons was honored by the Horizon League Feb. 25 for her impressive performance this weekend at home.

The senior posted back-to-back double-doubles this week in the Raider victories over Cleveland State and Youngstown State. Simmons posted 14 points and 14 rebounds in Friday’s victory over the Vikings and followed that performance up by posting a career-high 21 rebounds along with 10 points on Feb. 24.

Nunez honored by league

FAIRBORN — Wright State University freshman catcher Madison Nunez of the softball team has been named the Horizon League Player of the Week on Feb. 25.

The LaGrange native was a key piece in back-to-back wins for Wright State at the Liberty Invitational. Nunez finished the tournament 7 for 13 (.538) and put together an amazing performance on Sunday against Valparaiso. Against the Crusaders, Nunez hit a perfect 5 for 5 from the plate which included three doubles, two runs, and an RBI.

Nunez is batting .417 in her freshman campaign, and has started all but one game for the Raiders. She has six doubles and six RBI through eight games along with five runs.

Open rowing event in March

MORAINE — The Dayton Boat Club Junior Teams will be hosting an Open Boathouse Event 2-3 p.m. Saturday, March 2 at 3040 Great Miami River Recreational Trail. No rowing experience is needed. DBC coaches will provide instruction on how to be a competitive rower. Everyone who practices with the team, gets to race with the team. Drift Indy returning to Kil-Kare

XENIA — Drift Indy, the Midwest affiliate for the motor sport of auto drifting, announced its 2019 schedule and several sessions are scheduled for Kil-Kare Raceway.

The 13-event schedule has nine of its events lined up for the Kil-Kare Raceway venue, starting with the series’ first Drifting Clinic of the year on Friday, April 12. Four other Drift Indy events are scheduled for the Grissom Air National Guard airport just north of Kokomo, Ind. Visit driftindy.com for the full series schedule.
