INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Four members of the Wright State softball team received All-Horizon League honors as the postseason awards were announced on May 10. Named to the First Team were sophomore pitcher Ashley Sharp, sophomore outfielder Honnah Susor and junior shortstop Becka Peterson while junior designated player Vivi Marquez was selected to the Second Team.

Sharp (West Chester Lakota West) led the league and tied a school record with 19 wins on the season, 12 of those coming in league play. She ranked second in the league in earned run average (1.63) and innings pitched (163.1) and was eighth in strikeouts (66).

Susor (Oregon Clay) tied for the league lead in hits this season with 65 and led the way in triples (9) while ranking third in runs scored (44), fifth in total bases (97) and seventh in batting average (.369) and slugging percentage (.551). She led the squad this season in batting average, hits, triples and runs scored and is currently tied for the national lead in triples.

Peterson (West Liberty-Salem) ranked third in the league in runs batted in with 45 and tied for third in home runs with 11. The 11 home runs are the second most in a season in school history while the 45 RBI are third. She also appears in the league rankings in Total bases (fourth with 99), slugging percentage (sixth at .553), walks (tied for sixth with 24), hits (eighth with 54) and doubles (tied for ninth with 10).

Marquez (Rockford, ILL. Hononegah) put together a solid first season for the Raiders after transferring from Rock Valley College, ranking fourth in the league in doubles (13) and ninth in total bases (80) while finishing second on the team with a .313 batting average and tied for second with 19 extra-base hits.

Wright State (35-21, 18-6 Horizon) opens Horizon League Tournament play at 3:30 p.m. Eastern on Thursday, May 12, as the no.2-seed Raiders take on Wednesday’s winner of no. 3-seed Youngstown State and no. 6-seed Valparaiso at Flames Field in Chicago. The tournament continues through Saturday with the winner receiving an automatic bid to the NCAA Regionals the following week.
