Fucci named Horizon League Batter of the Week

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Wright State senior outfielder Ryan Fucci has been selected as the Horizon League Batter of the Week for the week ending May 22, it was announced Monday by the league office.

Fucci (Lexington, Ky. Tates Creek) hit .375 (6 for 16) with two home runs and eight RBI last week as the Raiders won three of four games to close out the regular season. In a 14-4 win over Dayton at Nischwitz Stadium on May 17, he was two for four with a double, RBI and run scored.

WSU then posted a 4-3, 13-inning win at Illinois-Chicago on May 19 as Fucci was again two for four with a double and a stolen base. He then drove in Wright State’s lone run with a sacrifice fly on May 20.

Wright State (41-15, 23-6 Horizon) will be the no. 1 seed and host of this week’s Horizon League Tournament.

Carroll hosting girls basketball camp

RIVERSIDE — Carroll High School will be hosting a girls basketball camp from 9-11:30 a.m. June 13-16 at the high school.

SW Ohio Track Club program

YELLOW SPRINGS — The Southwest Ohio Track Club will begin its Summer Track and Field Program on Tuesday May 31. This program is open to youth (7 years older) and older (including Masters). Practices are on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday at Yellow Springs HS (5 p.m. and 6 p.m.) through July 21. The summer program is a certified USATF program with excellent coaching and training. Fairborn hosting wrestling camp

FAIRBORN — Fairborn High School will host a Champions wrestling camp June 13-16 in the high school gymnasium. The camp will feature 2016 Olympian, NCAA champion and 2015 World Champion Kyle Snyder, four-time NCAA All-American and 2016 NCAA champ Nahshon Garrett, 2016 NCAA All-American and 2015 NCAA champ Nathan Tomasello, two-time NCAA All-American and four-time OHSAA state champ Bo Jordan, and 2016 NCAA wrestling qualifier Jake Ryan.

Sessions will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 13, 14 and 16, and from 3-8 p.m. June 15. Cost is $160 through May 20, $185 thereafter. Deadline to register is June 10. Coaches with five or more wrestlers registered can attend free and will have the opportunity to take part in the camp.

Central State Youth Football Skills Camp

WILBERFORCE — The Central State University Department of Athletics will host a Youth Skills Camp for kids ages 7-15 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. June 16 on the CSU campus. Individuals can register online at: http://www.maraudersportscamps.com/. Registration deadline is June 9. Check-in is at 8 a.m., kids meet the coaches at 8:30 a.m., with drills and competition getting under way at 9 a.m. Lunk and final remarks takes place at 11:30 a.m. with camp dismissal set for 12:30 p.m.

Junior Golf League starts June 29

XENIA — WGC Golf Course will also have its Wednesday Junior Golf League starting at 10:45 a.m. June 29. This nine-hole league will continue each Wednesday through July. Golfers with some playing experience are welcome to compete. The league was started back in 1975 by Jim Beaver and Garay Goecke who will supervise play each week. Greene Trails Cycling Classic set

XENIA — The 2016 Greene Trails Cycling Classic will take place July 14-17 with the Greene County Fairgrounds Recreation Center serving as home base for the hundreds of cyclists expected to attend from all over the region.

Excursions will be planned for each day of the event. Registration includes Fairgrounds Recreation Center campsite, Support and Gear (SAG), fully-supported rest stops, purchase pick-up, breakfast daily and all evening entertainment including meal on Thursday and Saturday night (if registered for Thursday and Saturday).

Adults Children (ages 5-12): 4-Day: $150 ($75); 3-Day: $125 ($65); 2-Day: $100 ($55); 1-Day $80 ($50); Non-riders: $75 ($50). Greene County residents: $25 per day ($10 per day) $10/day/entertainment. Group Rate: $135 per person/four days. Discount of $10 per person/per day with group rate — five or more from the same bicycle club with registration mailed together.
