FAIRBORN — The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced July 14 the 2016-17 NABC Honors Court, recognizing those men’s collegiate basketball student-athletes who excelled in academics during the past season.
Parker Ernsthausen, a junior from Toledo, and Tye Wilburn, a senior from Schererville, Ind., were among those honored. Ernsthausen is currently an accounting and finance major with a 3.608 grade-point average, while Wilburn holds a 3.321 GPA in organizational leadership.
The NABC Honors Court recognizes players’ talents off the court and the hard work they exhibit in the classroom.
In order to be named to the Honors Court, a student-athlete must meet a high standard of academic criteria. The qualifications are as follows:
1. Academically a junior or senior and a varsity player.
2. Cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of the 2016-17 academic year.
3. Students must have been enrolled at least one year at their current institution.
4. The student athlete must be a member of a NCAA Division I, II, III, or NAIA Division I or II institution with a NABC member coach.
Wilburn was a 5-foot-11 senior guard for the Raiders, and played in 18 games last season. He previously had played college basketball at Kilgore College, in Texas, and attended Lake Central High School in Schererville, Ind.
Ernsthausen is a 6-11 forward for WSU and was a redshirt junior during the 2016-‘17 campaign. From Bowling Green, Ohio, Ernsthausen attended Toledo St. John’s High School.
