Greene County hosts final Fishing Derby

XENIA — Twenty-four kids fished in the Greene County Fish & Game Association’s “Picnic Weekend” Youth Derby. These were 24 very happy kids, as they got to go through the extra prize line three times. Winners in the four age groups, and “big fish” anglers received trophies.

Youth fishing contestants were Noah Wagner, John Atkins, April Sisco, Haylie Sisco, Garrett Hunsucker, Lillian Xanover, David Sisco, Cameron Atkins, Sophia Garrison, Derrian Funkhouser, Chrystel Wiggins, Nicholas Elam, Kaylyn Dameron, Dylan Abner, Ethan Williamson, Jon Bentley, Kiersten Williams, Alyssa Williams, Abigail Damron, Amber Kurtz, Cameron Turner, Cortney Heaton Blake Eneix, and Jalissa Phipps.

Eighteen of the Youth participated in the casting contest. Every youth either got a trophy or a prize. John Atkins, Kaylyn Dameron, David Sisco Jr., April Sisco, Cameron Atkins, Nicolas Elam, Garrett Hunsucker, Lillian Vanover, Angelica Heggem, Haylie Sisco, Abigail Damron, Kiersten Williams, Christiania Price, Dani Price, Derrian Funkhouser, Sophia Garrison, Noah Wagner, and Jon Bentley competed in the event.

Bellbrook gets top-10 finish

MIAMISBURG — Bellbrook golf finished ninth in the Miamisburg Invitational, Tuesday at Pipestone Golf Club. As a team, the Golden Eagles shot 338 to finish tied with Carlisle on the par-72 course. Eaton won the tournament with a team score of 310.

The top four finishers for Bellbrook were Alyssa Burritt (76), Raif Foster (84), Mason Zimmer (85) and Noah Crosley (93).

Bellbrook-Sugarcreek golf outing, today

BELLBROOK — The 24th Annual Bellbrook-Sugarcreek area chamber of commerce golf outing will take place, Thursday Aug. 20 at Sugar Valley Golf Club, 1250 Mead Road, in Bellbrook.

Registration and lunch is at noon, shotgun start takes place at 1 p.m. Golfers are asked to wear soft-spiked shoes. Cost is $90 per player, which includes golf, a cart, food all day, refreshments and prizes.

Central State football hosting Fan Appreciation Day

WILBERFORCE — CSU football to host Fan Appreciation Day on August 22nd The Central State football team will hold Fan Appreciation Day at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 22 at McPherson Memorial Stadium. Admission is free and the gates will open at 1 p.m.

Marauder fans will be able to view the 2015 team in an intersquad scrimmage. The CSU Athletic Department will supply 2015 football team schedules and facilitate contests and giveaways throughout the afternoon. Students are also encouraged to stop by the CSU Sports Information table for details on tickets and upcoming events throughout the 2015-16 school year.

Throughout the event, students who are followers of the CSU athletics Twitter, Facebook and Instagram accounts will be randomly selected for prizes. Follow CSU on its new social media pages to be eligible to win today.

Central State hosting track tryouts

WILBERFORCE — As the 2015-2016 school year approaches, the CSU track & field program is excited to start training for the upcoming season. Upon doing so, the coaches would like to reach out to the student body and invite students who are interested in joining the CSU men’s and women’s cross country and track & field teams to this year’s tryout date.

An interest meeting will be held beginning at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 26 in the Beacom/Lewis Gymnasium. The interest meeting is mandatory in order to tryout.

Official tryouts will be held on Monday, Aug. 31.
