ENON — The sounds of revved up engines will be heard again in the Village of Enon this Sunday, Aug. 28, as the Enon Police Department hosts Enon’s 3rd Annual Cruise-In event.

The free public event will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. along South Xenia Drive near Settlers Park and will feature a wide range of displayed vehicles from all over the Miami Valley area. DJ Tom Murphy of Dayton-based Entertainment Unlimited will also be on hand again this year to entertain attendees with the classic sounds of the Beach Boys and other oldies but goodies.

“This is a wonderful, family-type event to attend where car and truck enthusiasts can view some beautiful, unique vehicles and listen to some great musical sounds,” Enon Police Chief Lewis Wilcox said. “This event seems to be a real crowd pleaser and draws many people in the community. Each year, they wander up and down the street and talk to the owners about their treasured vehicles, as well as enjoy the vehicles on display.”

According to Wilcox, sporty dash plaques will be given to the first 100 participants who registered a vehicle for an entry fee of $10 before Aug. 17. However, he noted that individuals can still register vehicles for a $20 fee, per displayed vehicle, by visiting the village website at www.enonohio.com or by calling the Enon Government Center at 937-864-7870. All makes and models are welcome.

Village officials are combining the car show with a food truck event. Attendees will have the opportunity to purchase their culinary favorites from several mobile eateries. Wilcox noted that tables and chairs would be set up in a designated area so everyone can sit and enjoy their food.

Village officials are also excited about the local craft vendors and suppliers who have registered for the event, including Booties & Bows, Damsel in Defense, Gran’s Country Kitchen Homemade Bake Goods and Candies, Lynn Perry’s Bags and Blankets, Origami Owl Custom Jewelry, Purdy Lil’ Suri Alpaca Farm, and Scentsy Wickless Candles and More.

“Many of these vendors had booths at our pizza festival, and new vendors are signing up each day,” Enon Administrative Assistant Kristy Thome said.

Wilcox said the annual car show has grown each year and has quickly become a staple for many classic car lovers.

“There is a genuine interest in the community for restored and customized cars and trucks, and we are anticipating that the event this year will be more successful than in past years,” said Wilcox. “Where else can you go on a Sunday afternoon and see really cool cars, hear wonderful era music, and have a good time for free?”

All proceeds from the event will benefit Enon Police Department’s annual “Shop with a Cop” program, whereby disadvantaged children from the Greenon Local School District go shopping for Christmas gifts with an Enon Police Officer.
