BEAVERCREEK — Each year during Respect for Law Week, the Greene Optimist Club honors local law enforcement officers who have exemplified the contributions made by law enforcement officers toward the betterment of our community. At the May 5 meeting, awards were presented to the two honorees Beavercreek officers Nick Coltrane and David Majercak. Both were recognized for unselfishly giving of themselves in service to others. Presiding over the program was Erin Henry, President of the Greene Optimist Club.

The Respect for Law Award is an annual Optimist International recognition sponsored by many Optimist Clubs across the nation.

Officer Coltrane joined the force last summer following nine years as a detective with Sugarcreek Township. He attended Butler Tech Peace Officer Training following graduation from Lakota East High Schools.

Officer David Majercak has been with the Beavercreek Police since 2001 and previously served as the High School Resource Officer. David stated that it was his job to make sure safety plans were in place to ensure the kids feel safe and have a safe place to learn. Prior to joining the Beavercreek Police Department, he served for eight years in the US Marine Corps making two deployments to Iraq with Charlie Company.

“One of the purposes of Optimist Clubs everywhere is to inspire respect for law,” said President Erin Henry. “Officer Coltrane and Officer Majercak have served unselfishly and have consistently shown complete dedication to the citizens of Beavercreek. It is an honor to recognize these community minded citizens for their random acts of kindness.”
