Children’s author Bruce Coville will introduce Diary of a Mad Brownie, Book One in his new Enchanted Files Series 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7.
In it, we meet Angus who is a brownie, but not the kind of brownie you eat. Far from it! He’s a tiny magical creature with a short temper and a love of order and cleanliness. Imagine his surprise when a curse sends him from Scotland to the home of Alex and her family in America. Alex is not a tidy girl, so that’s a challenge for fastidious Angus, but that’s the least of his challenges. Laughter and misunderstanding abound as he adjusts to his new surroundings!
Bruce Coville is the author of 101 books for children and young adults, including My Teacher Is an Alien, a run-away hit. His work has been translated in over a dozen languages and he has won children’s choice awards in over a dozen states.
Greer Macallister will introduce the softcover edition of her debut novel, The Magician’s Lie 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9.
If you enjoyed Water for Elephants and The Night Circus, you’re going to enjoy this spellbinding novel. But at one performance, something goes terribly wrong and Arden has only one night to convince a small town policeman that she did not murder the man. Or did she? While you’re trying to figure that out, the author will make sure you appreciate the whimsy and wonder, techniques and trickery involved in entertaining with illusions.
