XENIA — Greene County Family and Children First Director Renee Lammers has announced plans to retire this summer.

Lammers, who has worked in the county’s Family and Children First department since 1999, and as its director since April 2013, said she was retiring for “personal reasons.” Her retirement will be effective June 30.

“I have enjoyed it tremendously,” she said of her career with Greene County. “… I love Greene County. It has been a positive experience.”

Lammer said her retirement comes with “mixed emotions,” but said, “I’m in a place where I can (retire) and my family has always come first. … I have new adventures that are focused on them that I’m looking forward to. … I am looking forward to spending a lot of time probably traveling with my husband and visiting a lot of our family out of state.”

“I have always valued and find the role of being public servant the most important thing to keep foremost in your mind,” she said. “I think most of the consumers that I’ve worked with would say positive things about me and that’s, to me, the most important.”

Greene County Administrator Brandon Huddleson had nothing but praise for Lammers’ work in the county.

“Renee’s been with the county for quite awhile,” he said. “She has just been the consummate professional over there. Her dedication to the children and families in Greene County is just tremendous.”

Huddleson said he hoped to have her replacement in place in the “April-May time frame,” so that the new director could work with Lammers before her retirement.

“I’m confident there that we’ll have a good handoff and that that department will continue to run as it has,” he said.
