YELLOW SPRINGS — The summer season must be approaching fast because the June Yellow Springs Street Fair has officially been scheduled.

The twice-yearly event is slated for 9 a.m.- 5 p.m. Saturday, June 10 and will host more than 200 vendors selling handmade arts and crafts, an eclectic mixture of food offerings, two stages with live music, a beer garden that will offer domestic and local craft beers, street performers in addition to the usual shops and restaurants that make up downtown Yellow Springs.

The food tent at the Soin Stage in the lawn of Jackson-Lytle-Lewis Life Celebration Center will offer smaller, more mellow and “acoustic” acts, as well as local belly dancing troupe Egyptian Breeze. This stage runs for the duration of the event.

Meanwhile, the John Bryan Community Center is offering more music with larger bands and craft beer until 7 p.m. This year, the Music & Beer Fest is continuing its commitment to serving local beer and reducing waste, partnering with Trenton, Ohio-based MillerCoors, landfill free since 2009 and local favorite Yellow Springs Brewery. Patrons can support waste reduction and save on every beer by purchasing a reusable stainless steel cup.

“A huge part of what makes the Yellow Springs Street Fair such a lively and unique event [is that] people from all over the world come to share — whether it’s things they’ve made, songs or poems they know, a flow art they are trying to master, their juggling skills, or any number of things,” a press release for the event said. “It really is just a wonderful place to be, or, as some like to call it, ‘a day of small town hoopla,’”

To make getting to Street Fair easier, attendees are encouraged to use the free shuttle service from Young’s Dairy, 6800 Springfield-Xenia Road; or Yellow Springs High School, 420 E. Enon Road. The shuttle service is available from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Attendees can also check YellowSpringsOhio.org for alternate routes or ride a bike and use the free Bike Miami Valley bike valet service at the corner of Dayton Street and Route 68, adjacent to the Beer Garden. Handicapped parking is available at the Municipal Lot on Corry Street.

Street Fair is free and open to the public. For the safety and comfort of all, Street Fair is a pet free festival by ordinance and owners will be asked to leave. For more information, contact the Yellow Springs Chamber of Commerce at 937-767-2686 or visit YellowSpringsOhio.org.
